1st Annual Chorus & Band Concert
December 19, 2019 marked the first Band and Chorus Concert at TCCS and it was quite the occasion! The concert featured 5/6 Band, 5/6 Chorus, 7/8 Band, and 7/8 Chorus. Students have been hard at work since September learning how to sing, how to play their new instruments, and how to perform in an ensemble. Between instrument rental delays, a room change, and time crunches, students were able to face these challenges head-on. Students meet for a limited amount of time per week so to learn all they did in just a mere 15 weeks is truly a reflection of their adversity and dedication to this new program at TCCS.
We are pleased to share that Wednesday, November 27, following a brief Pep Rally for our Quiz Bowl team, we held our October / November Positive Behavior raffle assembly, where we celebrated our students for Trying Hard, Coming Prepared, Communicating Respect, and Showing Kindness during these months! It was a great way to finish this short week before the Thanksgiving Holiday.
We had our long-awaited Thanksgiving Show for the families of the 1-2’s to demonstrate what we learned about the first Thanksgiving and the Native Americans. The 1-2s sang “Albuquerque Turkey” and recited a poem to honor the Native Americans harvesting season. Afterwards we had a fantastic feast with food donated by all the 1-2s families. As the feast continued, the students’ recordings of what they were thankful for played on the smartboard.
